"communing with you" a mother+child collaboration

Haruna Lee collaborates for the first time with Aoi Lee on a mother-daughter piece. In residency together for two weeks at BAX, they developed a performance inspired by AL's butoh and HL's writing. They began this process through images and movement rather than conversation, as a way to bypass their Japanese-English language barriers. They focused their findings on 'metamorphosis', and its relationship to reincarnation, memory, and spaces of 欲 (yoku) or desire.
